"The whole difference between a construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists, as the mother can love the unborn child. Before even the details or main features of the book; the author enjoys it and lives in it with a kind of prophetic rapture." G.K. Chesterton

You are amazing! You could win on a game show. :) This was an essay in his collection of essays, In Defense of Sanity. " The Pickwick Papers." My students read Pickwick last year and this essay this year. They felt the order should have been reversed...it would have made them want to read Pickwick more. Yay, Chesterton!

A wee explanation: this website was created as a way to amplify the daily surprise of seeing glory in one small life. The notebook entries represented here are all selected from things actually lived and noted on paper in an effort to live the full life British educator Charlotte Mason so ably championed.
