In My Notebook...

In my Commonplace...

...one of the troubling aspects of modern life is that attention has been shattered into smaller and smaller pieces. I grew up in the woods of North Carolina, and we had long stretches of uninterrupted--I suppose you'd call it 'boring' time. Time to make long thoughts. And be uninterrupted.  -James Taylor

Laurie,
I've written an article about commonplace books over at Sandbox to Socrates and I'd love to interview you for a follow-up piece.

Thank you, Jen. I especially like this bit about keeping a commonplace being "almost like creating your own retreat." Here is the link everyone: http://sandboxtosocrates.com/2015/07/06/keeping-a-commonplace-book-by-jen-n/

I'd be pleased to consider your interview ideas if you'd like to send me something through the Conversations page.

What a beautiful choice for that special moment, Bonnie! James is certainly a favourite. Did you know he has a new album out, after 10 years?

    Virtual Life?

A wee explanation: this website was created as a way to amplify the daily surprise of seeing glory in one small life.  The notebook entries represented here are all selected from things actually lived and noted on paper in an effort to live the full life British educator Charlotte Mason so ably championed.
