In my Nature Notebook...

The snow wasn't serious. The weekend was in the 60's! I filled the bird-feeders and after hearing a sound this morning, a racket really, sort of like a chicken, I saw a huge Pileated Woodpecker!

You got a wonderful picture of this raucous fellow. We see and hear them here as well. I'm putting our bird seed out today....hopefully the raccoons will be elsewhere now.
